Founded in 1985, People Acting in Community Together (PACT) represents over 50,000 people organized in more than 30 member congregations and partner schools throughout Santa Clara County. This grassroots, multicultural, multifaith organization engages people in its proven model of community organizing to tackle pervasive social problems. Community advocates trained by PACT have won significant support that led to the creation of the historic Children’s Health Initiative, charter schools and other excellent, new public schools and homework centers in chronically low-performing districts, and the Mayor’s Gang Task Force and funding for gang prevention programs. PACT engages people from diverse ethnic and faith backgrounds, including a large percentage of Latinos, in efforts to improve their schools, neighborhoods, and communities and create solutions to problems that disproportionately impact Latino children and families. CFF has provided general support grants to the organization since 2010.
