Over 125 people attended a Next Generation Launch Event at the Castellano family home in September 2012.  The purpose of the event was to honor the past and celebrate the future as the leadership of the Castellano Family Foundation transitioned to a new generation of family philanthropists.  Attendees heard family members acknowledge the contributions of their Founders and announce new developments that would shape the future of the Bay Area’s only Latino family foundation as they entered a second decade of philanthropy:

  • Founder, Alcario Castellano, stepped down as Vice-President of the Foundation to fulfill his new role as Emeritus board member.
  • Siblings Maria West, Carmela Castellano-Garcia, and Armando Castellano joined the board as trustees, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Angie Briones, a seasoned nonprofit professional with foundation grant-making experience, was hired to fill the position of Director of Programs and Operations.
