On October 2, 2015, Carmen and Alcario Castellano were awarded the prestigious “Cornerstone of the Arts” Award by the City of San José Arts Commission in partnership with the Office of Cultural Affairs. The award honors individuals who have had a significant and meaningful impact on the artistic and cultural landscape of San José.
In his introductory speech, Mayor Sam Liccardo stated “Carmen and Al Castellano exemplify the spirit of the Cornerstone of the Arts Award. They generously give back to the community in the form of their time, leadership, and financial resources, with the result that many of our community’s cultural organizations can better celebrate diverse arts, promote cross-cultural understanding, and enhance cultural equality.”
